Mussel of the Month
The November 2019 Mussel of the Month is Yaukthwa peguensis. Yaukthwa is a genus of eight species found in Myanmar and Thailand.
The former genus Trapezoideus sensu lato (Graf & Cummings, 2007) has been recently split among several genera: Trapezoideus sensu stricto, Contradens, Indonaia, Trapezidens, Lamellidens, Arcidopsis, and Yaukthwa (Konopleva et al., 2019).
Yaukthwa is a newly recognized genus, described earlier this year (Konopleva et al., 2019). The eight currently known species are disrtributed from the Irrawaddy River east to the Salween of Myanmar and Thailand. |
