 The March 2025 Mussel of the Month is Margaritifera falcata. Margaritifera (Margaritiferidae) is a widely distributed genus of seven Recent species, found in North America, North Eurasia, and East Asia.
For this post, we’ll review the current state of our knowledge regarding the phylogenetic position of the Family Margaritiferidae. |
February 2025
 The February 2025 Mussel of the Month is Simpsonasus nankingensis. Simpsonanus (Unionidae) is a monotypic genus known from the Lower Yangtze in China (East Asia).
This month, we’ll review the recent taxonomic turmoil associated with this species, and then point out how the MUSSEL Project Web Site has useful resources to deal with (and discover!) classification conundra. |
